Regular Season Round 4: Tokyo Cinq R. - Kagoshima 98-104

The game in Tokyo was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Kagoshima (3-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (1-7). Kagoshima managed to secure a 6-point victory 104-98 on Saturday. Kagoshima dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 66. They outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 44-19 including a 34-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kagoshima looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Tokyo Cinq R.'s players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kagoshima made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for American forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 16-of-18 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Darnell Martin (198-91, college: CS Dominguez H.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Kagoshima players scored in double figures. American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) replied with 53 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and guard Kusano Kusano (185-97) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tokyo Cinq R.Tokyo Cinq R.'s coach Joe Navarro let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kagoshima have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 3-5 record. Tokyo Cinq R. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Kagoshima will face higher ranked Saitama Broncos (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
