Regular Season Round 6: AZS PS Gliwice - Pogon RS 93-76

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Pogon RS (0-6) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked AZS PS Gliwice (4-2) 93-76 on Saturday. AZS PS Gliwice outrebounded Pogon RS 51-39 including 36 on the defensive glass. Pogon RS was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Krzysztof Wasowicz (183-94) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Artur Szymanski (188-94) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four AZS PS Gliwice players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Aleksander Maslanka (195-91) with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and center Adam Andula (201-87) scored 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AZS PS Gliwice moved-up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with MCKiS Jaworz. Loser Pogon RS still closes the standings with six games lost. AZS PS Gliwice will face higher ranked AZS AWF Mick. (#3) in Katowice in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pogon RS will play at home against MKS DG 2 (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
