Regular Season Round 3: Panionios - Promitheas 80-87

Very expected game in Athens where Panionios (0-3) was defeated by Promitheas (3-0) 87-80 on Saturday. Panionios trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 25-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-87 at the end of the game. Promitheas made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Nikos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Promitheas will meet Panathinaikos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panionios will play against Koroivos (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
