Regular Season Round 7: Sendai 89ers - Iwate Big Bulls 92-94

Important game to mention about took place in Sendai. Fifth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (2-5) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Sendai 89ers (3-4) 94-92 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-92. It was a great shooting night for Iwate Big Bulls especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. It was a very good performance for American center Michael Buchanan (213-94, college: USC Upstate) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) contributed with 9 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Iwate Big Bulls maintains fifth place with 2-5 record, which they share with Kagawa FA. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the third position with four games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Iwate Big Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
