Regular Season Round 7: Ehime OV - Kumamoto V. 75-70

Rather expected game when 4th placed Kumamoto V. (3-5) lost to second ranked Orange Vikings (6-2) in Matsuyama 70-75 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-10. But Kumamoto V. won second period 20-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Kumamoto V. outrebounded Orange Vikings 42-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 5 rebounds. Toshino Yoshihiko (186-92) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds and Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Kumamoto V.Kumamoto V.'s coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Orange Vikings. They maintain second place with 6-2 record having just one point less than leader Shinshu BW. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
