There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (2-2) beat one of their biggest challengers Arxil Pontevedra (2-2) in Lugo 67-57 on Saturday. Maquinaria Ensino forced 21 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers. It was a very good performance for American-Irish forward Fiona ODwyer (182-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 20 points and 4 steals for the winners. Maquinaria Ensino's coach Fernando Buendia used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Chilean power forward Narlyn Mosquera replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds and Arantxa Mallou (181-91) added 14 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Arxil Pontevedra. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to seventh place in Group A, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Arxil Pontevedra. Maquinaria Ensino will face higher ranked Aros Patatas (#3) in Leon in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
