Regular Season Round 5: JX-Eneos S. - Hitachi Cougars 102-40

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked JX-Eneos S. as it allowed them to take a leadership position. JX-Eneos S. smashed 6th ranked Hitachi Cougars in Kashiwa 102-40. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hitachi Cougars. The game without a history. JX-Eneos S. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Hitachi Cougars to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 57.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 52-27 including a 34-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. JX-Eneos S. shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Hitachi Cougars' players. Power forward Kadysha Umezawa (183-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Mikoto Onuma (174-93) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four JX-Eneos S. players scored in double figures. Guard Yuki Kitamura (170-94) responded with 7 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JX-Eneos S. (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Hitachi Cougars at the other side keep the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Mitsubishi K.. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. JX-Eneos S. will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Hitachi Cougars in Hitachinaka.
