Very expected game when 13th ranked Cagliari CUS (1-3) was rolled over at home by fifth ranked Scrivia (3-1) 62-37 on Saturday. Scrivia held Cagliari CUS to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Scrivia forced 30 Cagliari CUS turnovers. Strangely Cagliari CUS outrebounded Scrivia 46-27 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) fired 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Claire Giacomelli (175-98) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Giulia Ridolfi (182-94) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Eugenia Caldaro (178-96) added 7 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Cagliari CUS's coach Federico Xaxa gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Scrivia maintains fifth position in A2 with 3-1 record. Loser Cagliari CUS dropped to the fourteenth place with three games lost. Scrivia will face league's second-placed Sesto SG in Sesto San Giovanni in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cagliari CUS will play at home against Milano (#10) and hope to win that game.
