Regular Season Round 6: Hitachi Cougars - JX-Eneos S. 45-86

No shocking result in a game in Hitachinaka where top-ranked JX-Eneos S. (6-0) smashed 6th ranked Hitachi Cougars (3-3) 86-45 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by JX-Eneos S.. Hitachi Cougars was better in fourth quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX-Eneos S. made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. JX-Eneos S. outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 51-34 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Kadysha Umezawa (183-98) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four JX-Eneos S. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) who recorded 19 points and guard Runo Nishizawa (167-94) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JX-Eneos S. have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-0 record. Hitachi Cougars at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. JX-Eneos S. will face Haneda Vickies (#9) in Tokyo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will play at home against Aishin Wings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
