Regular Season Round 8: Soba - Oxaco 84-93

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Soba (5-3) against fifth ranked Oxaco (5-2) on Sunday night. Host Soba was defeated by Oxaco in a tough game in Antwerpen 84-93. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Oxaco shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 70.6 percentage. The winners were led by Sam Van-Hoey (190-91) who scored that evening 24 points and center Bert Van-de-Broek (201-92) supported him with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Oxaco's coach Raf Vervoort allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points by point guard Anthony Goetgeluck (182-92) did not help to save the game for Soba. Dutch center Kenneth van-Kempen (207-87, college: Ohio, agency: Court Side) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Four Oxaco and five Soba players scored in double figures. Oxaco moved-up to second place, which they share with Gembo BBC and Waregem. Soba at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Oxaco will play against Gistel Oostende (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Soba will play against Gembo BBC (#4) in Borgerhout and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
