Regular Season Round 9: Yokohama BC - SeaHorses 69-96

Date: October 22, 2017
Very predictable result when first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (7-1) smashed on the road 6th ranked Yokohama BC (1-7) 96-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Yokohama BC was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International forward Takanobu Nishikawa (195-92) stepped up and scored 32 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the former international power forward Takuya Sato (198-83) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-1 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Yokohama BC lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face league's second-placed San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yokohama BC will play on the road against Niigata Albirex (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
