Regular Season Round 6: BC Nokia - Lapua 97-92

Very expected game when 9th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (1-4) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked BC Nokia (4-2) 97-92 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Lapuan Korikobrat trailed by 22 points after 3 quarters before a 40-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 92-97 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American Leyton Hammonds (203-94, college: Oklahoma St., agency: Inception Sports) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Niko Mattila (192-94) chipped in 17 points. Five BC Nokia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Maurice Creek (196-90, college: G.Washington) who recorded 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Puerto Rican-American forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St.) added 24 points and 12 rebounds respectively. BC Nokia moved-up to third place, which they share with Helsinki Seagulls. Lapuan Korikobrat lost third consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the ninth position with four games lost. BC Nokia will meet bottom-ranked KTP-Basket (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against KTP-Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
