Regular Season Round 9: Nagoya DD - San-en 91-83

Date: October 22, 2017
There was a small surprise in Nagoya where fifth ranked Diamond Dolphins (3-5) beat second-best San-en NeoPhoenix (4-4) 91-83 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-83. American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) stepped up and scored 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. Four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) with 29 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hitachi SR and Niigata Albirex. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix keeps the second position with four games lost. Diamond Dolphins will face higher ranked Toyama Grouses (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
