Regular Season Round 5: Estudiantes - FC Barcelona 80-70

There was a change at the Liga Endesa leadership position after last games. Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader FC Barcelona (4-1). They were defeated by twelfth ranked Movil Estudiantes (2-2) 80-70 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of FC Barcelona. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 25-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and American center Alec Brown (216-92, college: Green Bay) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Movil Estudiantes players scored in double figures. French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 17 points and 6 assists and international power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Movil Estudiantes moved-up to ninth place. FC Barcelona at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Fuenlabrada. FC Barcelona will play next round against UCAM Murcia trying to make it back to the top of the standings.
