Regular Season Round 5: Zaragoza - Andorra 95-78

Zaragoza has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Andorra (1-4) 95-78 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-78. Zaragoza dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Andorra's 26. They outrebounded Andorra 41-25 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) who scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import center Jarvis Varnado (206-88, college: Mississippi St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Five Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Slovenian Jaka Blazic (196-90) produced 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Czech swingman David Jelinek (195-90, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zaragoza left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with defeated Andorra. Zaragoza will meet higher ranked Baskonia (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Andorra will play against CB Canarias (#6) and hope to win that game.
