Regular Season Round 6: Storm Ungdom - Ullern 27-104

Kvinneligaen top team - Ullern (5-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Storm Ungdom (0-4) in Tromso 104-27. The game without a history. Ullern led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Storm Ungdom to just 3 points in first quarter and to 7 points in first half. Ullern held Storm Ungdom to an opponent 14.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.1 percent accuracy of the winners and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Ullern forced 27 Storm Ungdom turnovers and outrebounded them 54-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 1 passes made by Storm Ungdom's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ullern made 9 blocks. The former international center Tori Halvorsen (183-88, college: American) had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Ingrid Gjerdevik (169-92) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Ullern players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Embla Fuhr (164-99) with 11 points and guard Sofia Burkow (174-0) scored 10 points and 4 steals. Storm Ungdom's coach Mikki Jackson gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Ullern have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-1 record. Storm Ungdom at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Ullern will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Storm Ungdom will play on the road against Hoybraten (#3) in Oslo and hopes to get finally their first victory.
