Regular Season Round 4: Umana VE - Vanoli CR 92-81
Date: October 22, 2017
Very predictable result when top-ranked Umana Venezia (4-0) beat at home 13th ranked Vanoli Cremona (1-3) 92-81. The game was mostly controlled by Umana Venezia. Vanoli Cremona was better in fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Umana Venezia made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by Lithuanian swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90) who scored that evening 21 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) supported him with 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Even 27 points and 4 assists by American point guard Darius Johnson-Odom (187-89, college: Marquette, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Vanoli Cremona. His fellow American import center Henry Sims (208-90, college: Georgetown) added 14 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Umana Venezia have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with EA7 Armani and Germani BR. Vanoli Cremona at the other side dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. Umana Venezia's next round opponent will be Virtus Bologna (#5) on the road. Vanoli Cremona will play against VL Pesaro (#14) and hope to win that game.
