We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Niigata Albirex (3-5) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Hokkaido L. (6-2) 85-79 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 30-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Hokkaido L. made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. American forward Greg Whittington (203-93, college: Rutgers) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L.'s coach Kota Mizuno used entire bench saving starting five for next games.
