Regular Season Round 4: FoKoPo - Jarvenpaa 88-103

Jarvenpaa has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Forssan Koripojat (2-2) on the road game in Forssa 103-88 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Jarvenpaa. Forssan Koripojat was better in fourth quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jarvenpaa looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Forssan Koripojat's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Visa Tarjanne (194-93) who helped to win the game recording 41 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (193-81) who added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Jarvenpaa's coach Jarkko Lanu used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American forward Juwan Howard-Jr (200-92, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with 31 points and his fellow American import guard John Merchant (187-89, college: Dowling) scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Jarvenpaa (1-3) left bottom position moving up to tenth place in Division. Loser Forssan Koripojat dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Jarvenpaa will face higher ranked Korikouvot (#6) in Kouvola in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Forssan Koripojat will play on the road against Oulun NMKY and hope to win that game.
