Very predictable result when Maccabi Raanana (2-0) defeated on the road Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (0-2) 76-67 on Monday. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Ariel Edwards (190-92, college: Penn St., agency: ProDep Management) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field). Power forward Karisma Penn (188-91, college: Illinois) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Maccabi Raanana's coach Liron Sherf used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Tori Jarosz (190-92, college: Marist, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Sydney Colson (172-89, college: Texas A&M, agency: LBM Management) added 21 points and 11 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Maccabi Raanana will meet at home Bnot Hertzeliya (#4) in the next round. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Maccabi Ramat Gan (#2) in Ramat Hen and hope to win that game.
