Everything went according to plan in Riga where second ranked VEF skola (3-2) beat 6th ranked Valkas SI (1-4) 80-73 on Tuesday. They outrebounded Valkas SI 57-39 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Oskars Hlebovickis (197-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds and guard Rodrigo Bumeisters (190-0) who added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four VEF skola players scored in double figures. VEF skola's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side guard Karlis Vecens (185-95) responded with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists and guard Elvis Sukteris (194-96) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. VEF skola maintains second position with 3-2 record behind leader Kekava, which they share with Turiba. Valkas SI lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with four games lost. VEF skola will face Ogre/Kumho Tyre (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Valkas SI will play against the league's second-placed ViA and hope to win that game.
