Regular Season Round 7: Al-Riffa - Hidd 90-61

Bottom-ranked Hidd is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to eighth ranked Al-Riffa (3-3) 90-61. Al-Riffa dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Hidd's 48. Al-Riffa forced 27 Hidd turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Hidd's players. Al-Riffa brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The former international Mohamed Nabeel helped adding 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Hussain Saqer responded with 21 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Nooraldeen Mohamed scored 8 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Riffa moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al-Najma. Hidd at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Samaheej. Al-Riffa will play against league's leader Al-Ahli in Manama in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hidd will play at home against Al-Hala (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
