Regular Season Round 6: Ourense - Araberri 98-75
Date: October 27, 2017
Ourense's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked Araberri (3-3) 98-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ourense. Araberri managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Araberri 42-20 including a 28-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Australian forward Dan Trist (206-92, college: Lafayette) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Senegalese center Abdoulaye Ndoye (207-95) supported him with 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Ourense players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by American-Guyanese forward Kedar Edwards (196-93, college: Tenn-Martin) did not help to save the game for Araberri. Power forward Federico Ucles (204-93) added 9 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ourense (1-4) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Coruna. Loser Araberri dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ourense will meet at home higher ranked Blancos de Rueda (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Araberri will play against Barca II and hope to secure a win.
