Regular Season Round 5: Umea - Jamtland 89-85

The biggest surprise took place in Umea where host Umea (1-4) beat league's leader KFUM Jamtland (3-1) 89-85 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KFUM Jamtland. KFUM Jamtland was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Umea made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Umea outrebounded KFUM Jamtland 42-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-Italian guard Nick Schlitzer (198-92, college: Thomas Jefferson) who scored 25 points. Center Andre Nilsson (209-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American forward William Walker (197-87, college: Bethel, IN) produced 23 points and the other American import center William Paul (208-88, college: Arkansas Tech) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. KFUM Jamtland's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Umea left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Uppsala and Nassjo. KFUM Jamtland at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Sodertalje. KFUM Jamtland will play next round against strong BC Lulea trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Umea will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Nassjo on the road.
