Regular Season Round 6: Spirou - Liege 86-64
Date: October 27, 2017
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Liege Basket (1-5) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Spirou Charleroi (2-3) 86-64. Spirou Charleroi dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Liege Basket's 24. They outrebounded Liege Basket 41-28 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spirou Charleroi players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Liege Basket's players. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Seth Tuttle (203-92, college: N.Iowa) notched 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Scott Thomas (198-89, college: Bowling Green) supported him with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by guard Tyler Larson (190-91, college: S.Dakota) did not help to save the game for Liege Basket. Forward Carl Montgomery (203, college: Chicago St.) added 12 points. Five Spirou Charleroi and four Liege Basket players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Spirou Charleroi moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Limburg United. Liege Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Spirou Charleroi's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Leuven Bears (#10) at home. Liege Basket will play against Antwerp Giants and hope to win that game.
