Important game to mention about took place in Mexicali. Aaguacateros (2-1) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging Soles (2-1) 77-74 in the game for the second place. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican Christopher Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. International center Israel Gutierrez (206-93) helped adding 10 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) scored 20 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aaguacateros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Soles will play again at home against Aaguacateros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
