Regular Season Round 6: Slovan - UKF Nitra 54-59

UKF Nitra can celebrate finally their first win this season after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Bratislava, where they defeated Slovan (1-5) 59-54. UKF Nitra dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Slovan's 18. It was a good game for center Laura Dubenova (189-95) who led her team to a victory with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Paula Kubusova (170-93) contributed with 8 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. UKF Nitra's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Stella Tarkovicova (183-99) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds and center Renata Talajkova (190-81) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Slovan. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. UKF Nitra (1-4) left bottom position moving up to seventh place. Slovan at the other side dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. UKF Nitra will play against higher ranked Banska Bystrica (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Slovan will play against MBK Ruzomberok to get more than just one victory in their record.
