Regular Season Round 5: Leiden - Zwolle 74-64

Date: October 28, 2017
First defeat of league's leader Zwolle (4-1) against leader Leiden (4-0) 74-64 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zwolle. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Zwolle managed to win third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International forward Mohamed Kherrazi (200-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Carrington Love (186-94, college: Green Bay) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Leiden's coach Paul Vervaeck used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Franko House (198-94, college: Ball St.) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Ralf Pagter (200-89) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Zwolle. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leiden have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Zwolle at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Leiden. Zwolle will play next round against Amsterdam trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Leiden will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Leeuwarden on the road.
