Regular Season Round 5: Aros Patatas - Ensino 73-70

Everything went according to plan in Leon where third ranked Aros Patatas (4-1) edged 9th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (2-3) 73-70 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Aros Patatas outrebounded Maquinaria Ensino 49-17 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Natalia Lopez (171-93) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and guard Andrea Alcantara (169-99) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Aros Patatas players scored in double figures. Alicia Villegas (174-95) responded with 21 points, 5 assists and 6 steals and Esther Castedo scored 24 points and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aros Patatas moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Lima-Horta and GDKO Bizkaia. Maquinaria Ensino at the other side keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Aros Patatas will face Arxil Pontevedra (#6) on the road in the next round. Maquinaria Ensino will play against Rioja and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
