Regular Season Round 11: Toshiba BT - Niigata Albirex 70-72

Important game to mention about took place in Kanagawa. Fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (5-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Toshiba Thunders (7-4) 72-70 on Saturday evening. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It was a great evening for American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Yuichi Ikeda (191-83) helped adding 13 points. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) scored 7 points and 17 rebounds. Toshiba Thunders' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Niigata Albirex moved-up to second place, which they share with Hitachi SR and San-en. Toshiba Thunders at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Niigata Albirex will play against Toyama Grouses (#5) on the road in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play against Diamond Dolphins (#4) in Nagoya and hope to get back on the winning track.
