Regular Season Round 11: Toyota Alvark - Toyama Grouses 104-77

Rather expected game when 4th placed Toyama Grouses (4-7) were smashed by first ranked Toyota Alvark (10-1) in Tokyo 104-77 on Saturday. Toyota Alvark shot 60.6 percent from the field and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: N.Carolina) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) answered with 21 points and 5 assists and the other American import center Dexter Pittman (208-88, college: Texas, agency: Inception Sports) added 23 points in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. They maintain first place with 10-1 record, which they share with SeaHorses. Toyama Grouses lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Shimane Magic (#5) on the road in the next round. Toyama Grouses will play against Niigata Albirex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
