Regular Season Round 5: Saitama Bron. - Kagoshima 82-95

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Saitama Broncos (5-5) were defeated at home by fifth ranked Kagoshima (5-5) 95-82 on Saturday. Kagoshima dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama Broncos' 38 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Kagoshima had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) stepped up and scored 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Darnell Martin (198-91, college: CS Dominguez H.) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Masaki Odo (169-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 21 rebounds and point guard Nishi Yutaro (176-92) scored 22 points and 5 assists. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Kagoshima. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Saitama Bron. Kagoshima will face league's leader Tokyo HT at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Saitama Broncos will play against Tokyo Big Blue and hope to win that game.
