Very predictable result when leader Leganes (5-0) defeated at home 9th ranked Magec Tias (1-4) 69-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leganes. Magec Tias was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Magec Tias 52-34 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Esther Moreno (178-85) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American forward Kiara Kudron (188, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Leganes players scored in double figures. Leganes' coach Nacho Garcia used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Tamara Montero (168-94) scored 19 points and 5 assists. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Leganes. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Gran Canaria. Magec Tias lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Leganes will face Almeria (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Magec Tias will play against Promete (#14) and hope to win that game.
