Regular Season Round 5: Tokyo Excel. - Tokyo Cinq R. 101-77

Another exciting game was also this time a derby match between local teams from Tokyo: Tokyo Excel. (#2) and Tokyo Cinq R. (#6). Tokyo Excel. (7-3) crushed visiting Tokyo Cinq R. (1-9) by 24 points 101-77. Tokyo Excel. dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Cinq R.'s 34. They outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 45-20 including a 36-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo Excel. looked well-organized offensively handing out 39 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Tokyo Cinq R.'s players. American Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) chipped in 27 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) responded with 31 points and 8 rebounds and guard Yohei Ono (190-91) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tokyo Excel.. They maintain second place with 7-3 record behind leader Tokyo HT. Tokyo Cinq R. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Tokyo Excel.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo .
