Regular Season Round 6: Koping Stars - Djurgarden 84-81

Round 6 in Superettan means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Koping where host Koping Stars (7-0) edged league's leader Djurgarden (6-1) 84-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Djurgarden. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Djurgarden was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Koping Stars made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Koping Stars outrebounded Djurgarden 44-21 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Djurgarden helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was center Mikael Axelsson (207-94) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Serbian guard Aleksa Solevic (188-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Langston Morris-Walker (196-94, college: Oregon St.) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Brandon Barton (192-88, agency: Diamond Sports) added 19 points respectively. Five Koping Stars and four Djurgarden players scored in double figures. Koping Stars have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Djurgarden at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Koping Stars. Djurgarden will play next round against Trelleborg trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Koping Stars will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked IK Eos in Lund.
