Regular Season Round 11: SeaHorses - Nagoya DD 106-89

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (10-1) defeated 3rd placed Diamond Dolphins (4-7) in Kariya 106-89 on Saturday. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 38-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) contributed with 15 points and 9 assists for the winners. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) answered with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain first place with 10-1 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the third position with seven games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Osaka Evessa (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Diamond Dolphins will play against Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
