We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Yokohama BC (2-9) defeated 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (5-6) in Tokyo 67-61 on Saturday. Yokohama BC dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Sunrockers' 28. Yokohama BC forced 20 Hitachi Sunrockers turnovers. Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tomoya Hasegawa (185-89) added 11 points in the effort for Hitachi Sunrockers. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Yokohama BC maintains sixth place with 2-9 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers dropped to the second position with six games lost. Yokohama BC will face league's second-placed San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
