There was a minor upset when 4th placed CVCD Granada (3-2) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Picken Claret (3-2) 65-57 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 65-57. Forward Beatriz Royo (176-91) stepped up and scored 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Esther Saez (178-97) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Picken Claret's coach Carles Martinez used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Patricia Fernandez scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Picken Claret moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated CVCD Granada. Picken Claret will face higher ranked Real Canoe (#3) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CVCD Granada will play on the road against Adelantados in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
