Regular Season Round 11: San-en - Shiga L-Stars 72-77

Rather predictable result when third ranked Shiga L-Stars (4-7) won against 5th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (5-6) in Hamamatsu 77-72 on Saturday. Shiga L-Stars outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 42-27 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shiga L-Stars made 7 blocks. American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 7 blocks. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) contributed with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Shiga L-Stars' coach Shawn Dennis used entire bench in such tough game. American swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Four San-en NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shiga L-Stars. They maintain third place with 4-7 record having six points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with 4 other teams. San-en NeoPhoenix lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the second position with six games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.
