Regular Season Round 5: Roma S.Azzurra - Salerno 63-77

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Salerno (3-2) defeated on the road higher ranked Roma S.Azzurra (2-2) 77-63 on Saturday. They outrebounded Roma S.Azzurra 46-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Roma S.Azzurra was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Federico Di Prampero (193-95) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Marco Mennella (191-99) chipped in 14 points. Four Salerno players scored in double figures. Naturalized Argentinian Juan-Manuel Caceres (200-84, agency: Interperformances) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Giovanni Corbinelli (180-97) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salerno moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with 6 other teams. Loser Roma S.Azzurra dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. Salerno will face Scauri (#4) at home in the next round.
