Regular Season Round 6: Haukar - Keflavik 81-78

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Dominos League took place in Hafnarfjordur. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Keflavik (2-4) to first ranked Haukar (5-1) 81-78 on Saturday evening. Haukar made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Cherise Daniel (180-87, college: Ohio St.) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Haukar's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brittanny Dinkins (170-94, college: S.Mississippi) who recorded a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 13 assists and 6 steals and guard Thoranna Hodge-Carr (166-99) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. Haukar maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Valur. Defending champion Keflavik dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Snaefell. Haukar is looking forward to face Skallagrimur (#4) in Borganes in the next round. Keflavik will play at home against Njardvik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
