Regular Season Round 7: Chanson V-M - Denso Iris 74-71

The most exciting game of round 7 in the WJBL took place in Shizuoka. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Denso Iris (4-3) to fifth ranked Chanson V-M (5-2) 74-71 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Denso Iris trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 25-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-74 at the end of the game. Chanson V-M made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Denso Iris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Sanae Motokawa (175-92) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 assists. Guard LiQuan Luohe (165-91) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Denso Iris. Denso Iris' coach Hiroshi Kojima rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chanson V-M moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Denso Iris at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Chanson V-M is again looking forward to face Denso Iris (#6) in Kariya in the next round. Denso Iris will have a break next round.
