Regular Season Round 5: Piombino - Valsesia 65-73

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Piombino (3-2) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Valsesia (3-2) 73-65 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was swingman Mattia Magrini (190-93) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Mirko Gloria (203-95) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Valsesia's coach Domenico Bolignano used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Croatian Dorde Malbasa (196-95, agency: SPORTlab Agency) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and guard Edoardo Pedroni (184-98, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Four Piombino players scored in double figures. Valsesia moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Piombino. Valsesia will face league's second-placed Firenze All Foods at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Piombino will play against Alba and hope to win that game.
