Regular Season Round 11: Akita NH - Sendai 89ers 83-70

Rather predictable result when leader Akita Happinets (11-0) defeated at home 3rd placed Sendai 89ers (4-7) 83-70 on Sunday. Akita Happinets forced 22 Sendai 89ers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (203-89, college: S.Florida) helped adding 12 points. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) scored 14 points and 7 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Sendai 89ers lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with seven games lost. Akita Happinets will face league's second-placed Fukushima at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against Dragonflies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
