Regular Season Round 8: Aishin AW - Hitachi Cougars 59-61

Everything could happen in Anjo at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Hitachi Cougars and 7th ranked Aishin Wings had identical 3-4 record. But Aishin Wings were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Hitachinaka 61-59 on Sunday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aishin Wings won third quarter 18-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Cougars dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 7 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Aya Tsurumi (164-92) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Ishiguro Mutsumi (175-92) who added 3 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The former international center Kyoko Hamaguchi (181-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Kiho Miyashita (178-98) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Cougars (4-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Toyota B SR. Loser Aishin Wings dropped to the ninth position with five games lost.
