There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Andorra (2-4) defeated at home higher ranked CB Canarias (4-2) 58-48 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Strangely CB Canarias outrebounded Andorra 41-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) who scored 19 points and 5 assists. Serbian power forward Oliver Stevic (204-84, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 10 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Javier Beiran (200-87) who recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds and Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Andorra moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser CB Canarias dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Andorra will face Joventut (#16) in Badalona in the next round. CB Canarias will play at home against the league's leader Real Madrid (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
