Regular Season Round 5: PuHu Juniorit - Aalto-Basket 70-92

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Vantaa where 11th ranked PuHu Juniorit (1-4) was outplayed by twelfth ranked Aalto-Basket (1-4) 92-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Aalto-Basket. PuHu Juniorit was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aalto-Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to PuHu Juniorit's 42. The best player for the winners was forward Matti Hautala (194-94) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Antti Laukkanen (193-91) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Aalto-Basket players scored in double figures. American swingman Justice Graham (198-79, college: Glenville St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Rony Pais added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aalto-Basket left bottom position moving up to tenth place in Division. Aalto-Basket will face higher ranked Karkkila (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PuHu Juniorit will play against Espoo Basket (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
