Very important is a road loss of third ranked Ortona (3-2) against ninth ranked Nardo (3-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Ortona was defeated by Nardo in a tough game in Nardo 94-101. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Nardo outrebounded Ortona 46-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Alessandro Poti (192-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Serbian-Montenegrin center Goran Bjelic (204-83) chipped in 23 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Gianluca Marchetti (178-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 assists and 4 steals and point guard Diego Martino (167-93) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nardo moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Ortona. Nardo will meet Porto S.Elpidio (#6) on the road in the next round. Ortona will play against Giulianova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
