Regular Season Round 5: Tokyo HT - Otsuka A. 109-82

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tokyo: Tokyo HT (#1) and Otsuka A. (#4). Tokyo HT (8-2) crushed visiting Otsuka A. (4-6) by 27 points 109-82. Tokyo HT dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Otsuka A.'s 36. They outrebounded Otsuka A. 45-26 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tokyo HT looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Edward Morris (204-84, college: Pittsburg St.) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. American forward Ray Raymond (203-84, college: Wisconsin) produced 25 points and 4 assists and guard Susumu Tamura (190-89) added 18 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tokyo HT. They maintain first place with 8-2 record. Otsuka A. at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Tokyo HT will meet Kagoshima (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Otsuka A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Tokyo Cinq R..
