Regular Season Round 8: Espoo United - Kouvot 95-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kouvot (6-2) against eleventh ranked Espoo United (2-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Kouvot was crushed by Espoo United in Espoo 95-71. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Kouvot. The game without a history. Espoo United led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 assists and guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) who added 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Espoo United's coach Ville Neva felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Wayne Bernard (190-81, college: Davidson) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Espoo United moved-up to ninth place, which they share with KTP Basket. Kouvot at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Espoo United will play against higher ranked Joensuun Kataja (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kouvot will play against KTP-Basket (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
